The virus situation looks very different here in Aus, both in terms of numbers and normality. That being said, your fears are valid on both fronts.

I too shared the same opinion where online dating was concerned, this was, of course, pre pandemic. I dipped my toes in (ever briefly) and it was a success for me. Call me old school but I have to admit it was cringe worthy to do it.
